Opening Night Party
The Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas Auction kicked off with the Opening Night Party at Drai’s Beachclub and Nightclub. After our tickets were checked, we took an elevator to the rooftop, walked down a hallway and stopped to take photos against a backdrop. Then, as we went around the corner, we were met with strobe lights, food stations, an open bar and live entertainment.
The club featured both indoor and outdoor spaces – there were at least four pools! A glass wall surrounded the space providing a fantastic view of the Strip. We could also see the cast of Gas Monkey Garage in their roped off, private box at the back of the dance floor. Guests were able to go up and take pictures with them.
As the night went on, Craig Jackson said a few words and excitement filled the room over the start of the auction the next day. By the end of the night, the dance floor was completely packed! The DJ was mixing everything from classic 80’s songs to current rap songs. It was the perfect start to an incredible auction.
The Barrett-Jackson Auction
Auction day finally arrived! The auction opened at 8 am and our hospitality venues opened at 9 am. We served hot breakfast and coffee to start the day. For those wanting to get a head start on the drinks, the bar also opened at 9 am. Lunch, snacks and dinner were all provided as the day went along.
One of the perks of our hospitality venues is that guests had the opportunity to bid from the venue instead of having to go down to the floor. It was very convenient since the majority of our guests preferred to stay in our venues – thanks to our exceptional elevated views! Plus, the Luxury Reserve suite received a surprise visit from Craig Jackson and his wife. They both stayed for about half an hour to meet guests and take photos.
The auction block tour was certainly a highlight of the trip. Nick, the general manager of Barrett-Jackson, gave most of the tours. He took our guests up on the block and then behind where the auctioneer stood to give everyone a glimpse of what was happening during the auction. He explained who handles the online bids, who is making the calls, etc. Keep in mind, all of this is LIVE, so you might have seen our guests on TV!
After the auction block tour, our guests were able to take pictures in front of the Barrett-Jackson logo, located between the cars and the auctioneer. Following the photo, we walked down the other side of the stage to the staging lanes.
Our guests were able to go up on the block and to the staging lanes at any point during the auction – something the general public did not have access to. We then headed to the production trailers to get an idea of how everything works.
The overall tour ended with a stop at the merchandise area so our guests could purchase items with the merchandise cards included in their packages.
One of the most rewarding parts of the trip was speaking with one of our guests, Lisa, who is a breast cancer survivor. She actually auctioned off her pink Plymouth Duster for charity, and all proceeds went to breast cancer research.
Overall, we had an incredible time at Barrett-Jackson Las Vegas, and now we can’t wait for Scottsdale!
