That’s a wrap! The 2016 Barrett-Jackson Northeast Auction Recap

By Allie Shriver June 27, 2016 Northeast

The inaugural three-day Barrett-Jackson Northeast Auction crushed expectations in every way. The number of consignments, registered bidders, attendees, and sales of cars and automobilia surpassed the organizers' dreams. The event was a massive success! The attendance of more than 90,000 set a record for any event in the 20-year history of Mohegan Sun. The event also set a new attendance record for any three-day Barrett-Jackson event and resulted in a ticket sellout within the first couple of hours.

Attendees were not only privileged to the car auction and staging lanes, they had the opportunity to learn more about collector cars at the free “Behind the Hobby” symposiums. They were also treated to the ride of their lives at the exciting Ride ’N Drives and Thrill Rides presented by Ford, Chevrolet, and Dodge.

Collector car fan Buddy Valastro, a.k.a. “The Cake Boss,” stopped by to surprise Craig Jackson. He brought a replica of the 1934 Cadillac 370D V12 Fleetwood Coupe that Craig’s mother once owned — made completely out of cake. Can you say YUM?

Philanthropy

Keeping with Barrett-Jackson’s long history of philanthropy, six very special vehicles were auctioned off for charity. You can read the details on each car here.  This weekend raised a combined $605,000 for six different charities. This brings the total amount Barrett-Jackson has raised for local and national charities to more than $90 million.

For the NASCAR fans:
The 1966 Ford F-100 Custom Pickup, custom-painted and restored by the partnership of Swag Custom Rides and Special Olympics athletes – and signed by Ford Racing Team member Joey Logano. 100 percent of the $115,000 hammer price goes directly to Special Olympics through the Hometown Foundation

For the Country Music fans:
A one-of-a-kind custom Jeep Wrangler Sahara, with meticulously detail elements from jewelry designer Shelly Brown and brought to life by Zac Brown Customs. The hammer went down on a winning bid of $120,000, all of which goes to Camp Southern Ground, the passion project of Grammy Award-winning country music artist Zac Brown.

For the NFL fans:
The 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Convertible owned by All-Pro tight end Greg Olsen sold for $100,000. The car crossed the auction block on June 23 with 100 percent of the hammer price going to Receptions for Research: The Greg Olsen Foundation benefiting The HEARTest Yard.
